Clear the stage for the great show: The brands of Volkswagen Group will present a groundbreaking fleet of novelties at this year’s “Mondial de l’Automobile” in Paris. The array of world premieres at pavilion 4 on the Paris Expo compound ranges from new editions of automotive bestsellers up to flashy models in the luxury class. On the eve of the fair’s opening (29 September 2010), Volkswagen Group will be celebrating a grand show of novelties: “Allez les Marques”.

Starting at 7:30 p.m. on this night, the brands of Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Seat, Škoda and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will be unveiling their novelties and extending an invitation to illuminating expert discussions on the innovative power of the Volkswagen automotive family. Because the one who can link sustainable technologies to an international product strategy, new solutions for mobility and the digital world will take the lead position in the automotive industry and have a definitive impact on its future.

Audi A1 and A5 Sportback win “Autonis 2010” design award

Dual distinction for Audi in the “auto motor und sport” (ams) reader survey; a level of success unmatched by any other brand. The Audi A5 Sportback and Audi A1 outpaced top-class contenders from Germany and abroad.

  • Audi A5 Sportback voted favorite car
  • Audi A1 takes top honors in “compact car” category
  • 21,066 readers choose from among 88 new models

Leaving the competition trailing in the “mid-size” category, the Audi A5 Sportback was also voted the hands-down favorite of all categories overall by 79 percent of survey participants. The Audi A1 got top marks from 67.8 percent of ams readers, landing it in first place by a clear margin in the “small car” category.

In all, 21,066 readers of the specialist magazine “auto motor und sport” took part in voting for the “Autonis – Best Design Innovations 2010” awards. 88 cars in eight categories were up for selection.

In an evening ceremony at Solitude Castle near Stuttgart, ams Editor-in-Chief Bernd Ostmann presented the awards to Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, for the A1 and to Michael Dick, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG for Technical Development, for the A5 Sportback.
