Posted: 26 Nov 2010 08:44 AM PST

British sports car builder – Aston Martin, has released the images of a new version of their Rapide four-door model called Luxe.

Unfortunately, the company have not divulged any information on the new version and only released these pictures. But what we can tell from the images is that the Aston Martin Rapide Luxe gets an upgraded interior.

The first striking feature you may notice is the red leather upholstery, also present is a LCD screen integrated in the headrests, various chrome styling accents and personalized door sill plates. Looking at the photos its seems this new version also includes a set of matching red leather luggage.

We presume the engine of the Aston Martin Rapide Luxe will be the same as the standard 6.0 liter V12 unit that produces 470 bhp.

We will bring you more information on the Aston Martin Rapide Luxe as soon as it becomes available but for now check out the image gallery below.

Pagani supercar maker

Posted: 26 Nov 2010 08:05 AM PST

Pagani Automobili S.p.A. is a manufacturer of high performance sports cars, the company was founded in 1992 by Horacio Pagani, and is based in San Cesario sul Panaro, near Modena, Italy.

History

Horacio Pagani, an Argentinian who formerly managed Lamborghini’s composite department, founded Pagani Composite Research in 1988. This new company worked with Lamborghini on numerous projects, including the restyling of the 25th Anniversary Countach, the P140 design concept, and the Diablo.

In the late 1980s, Pagani began designing his own car referred to as the “C8 Project”. Pagani planned to rename the C8 the “Fangio F1″ to honour five-time Formula One champion Juan Manuel Fangio.

In 1991 Pagani established Modena Design to meet the increasing demand for his design, engineering, and prototyping services. In 1992, he began construction of a Fangio F1 prototype, and by 1993, the car was being tested at the Dallara wind tunnel with positive results.

In 1994, Mercedes-Benz agreed to supply Pagani with V12 engines.

The name Fangio F1 was eventually dropped after Fangio died in 1995 and the car was renamed the Zonda C12. This new supercar received its first appearance at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show.

In 2005, Pagani announced that it planned to triple its production output within the next three years, and to enter the US market in 2007.

On the 25th of September 2007 Pagani claimed a new record for production super cars using the Pagani Zonda F Club sport by completing the Nürburgring in 7:27:82, but has since been beaten by other cars, such as the Maserati MC12, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, and Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR.

In July 2010 a Zonda R achieved the lap record at the Nordschleife for a production road car. The time was 6.47 minutes, which took 11 seconds out of Ferrari’s record that was achieved with the 599xx, a car that isn’t road-legal.

Relationship with Daimler

While Pagani is an independent company, it has a working relationship with Daimler AG, most notably, with the Mercedes’ AMG division. This is partly due to the fact that Fangio had suggested that Pagani approach Mercedes. The Zonda has used increasingly advanced versions of the M120 V12 engine; the initial version displaced 6.0L, but current Zondas now use a 7.3L engine. Pagani has also assisted in the development of the Chrysler ME Four-Twelve.

Pagani Zonda

The Zonda is Pagani’s only model, it is powered by a mid-mounted V-12 DOHC engine manufactured by Mercedes. The car’s design was inspired by jet fighters and the famous Sauber-Mercedes Silver Arrow Group C cars. It features several unique design elements, including its circular four pipe exhaust.

The Zonda production run is now coming to an end but it’s successor is soon to be unveiled.

Future models

Pagani is currently building an all new supercar which is intended to replace the Zonda. It is called the C9 and will debut in 2010. Pagani expects to build no more than 40 of these new models each year and they will have a price tag of around $1,250,000. The engine will be a 7.0 Litre V12 from Mercedes AMG, it will kick out 700 horsepower and over 1,000 N·m of torque.

Zonda Cinque

Pagani announced back in 2009 a special version of the Zonda named “Zonda Cinque”. This featured a new 678 horsepower Mercedes-Benz V12, active aerodynamics, and a newly developed “carbon-titanium fibre,” which is stronger and lighter than typical carbon fibre. Only 5 were produced.

Pagani also announced in July 2009 a Zonda Cinque Roadster, of which only 5 will be produced. The Roadster uses the same Mercedes-Benz V12 engine as the coupe version, but has been made lighter and stronger to keep the car structurally rigid.

Custom Made

Over the past few years Pagani has built several special edition models for their customers and some editions have been limited to just one unit.
