Harry Potter Boosts Royal Enfield Sales

Posted: 09 Dec 2010 09:00 PM PST

What’s up people? For those of you with young children, you probably have seen the new smash hit movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. What you may not know is that the movie has given Royal Enfield and Watsonian Squire sidecars a nice sales boost.

In the film, a Royal Enfield 500 fitted with a Watsonian sidecar is featured with Hagrid riding the bike and Harry Potter sitting in the sidecar driving through London at night, dodging traffic. In true Harry Potter magic form, the bike flies, too.

Film producers Warner Brothers brought several bikes with the model finally selected being a blue Manx sidecar. Royal Enfield is currently attempting to retrieve one to put on display.

Ducati & AMG Confirm MotoGP Partnership

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 09:00 PM PST

Hey guys, Jon here again. You all probably know about the whole Ducati and Mercedes AMG joining up with the Nicky Hayden “burn out” post all over the Internet.

However, Ducati has recently officially confirmed that AMG, the high performance arm of the Mercedes-Benz, will be supporting its MotoGP factory team for 2011.

This means the AMG logo will join those of Marlboro and TIM on Valentino Rossi's GP11 and leathers next season and confirms a rumor that has been circulating for some time.

Mercedes-AMG CEO Ola Källenius said "AMG and Ducati are perfect partners both on the racetrack and on the road as both our companies share the same values. The key message put across by both companies is an expression of our innate passion for racing, high performance and exclusivity."

Win a Honda Hornet from Honda Cameron Diaz

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 09:00 PM PST

Hey what’s going on guys? Looks like Cameron Diaz can't keep away from motorcycles. First, she starred with Tom Cruise aboard a Ducati Hypermotard in Knight & Day (horrible movie, BTW), and now the leggy blonde's upcoming superhero film, The Green Hornet, is being marked by Honda with a special, green CB600F Hornet which is to be given away in a new, free-to-enter competition.

The contest, which is also offering a trip for two to Los Angeles as second prize plus Playstation 3s and Sony cameras as runner-up prizes, runs between now and February 14 of next year.

To enter, all you have to do is visit your local dealer and complete and submit an entry form. Winners will be drawn at random on February 28, 2011.

The movie also stars Seth Rogan and Jay Chou (playing Kato). I don’t know how this Taiwanese singer landed this role, but I am sure he won’t be able to do justice to Mr. Bruce Lee’s role.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Aprilia RSV4 Carbon Fiber Kit

Posted: 06 Dec 2010 09:00 PM PST

Hi guys, Aprilia has developed a complete carbon fiber body kit for the RSV4 range. Check it out.

Finally, after months of development on race track, public roads and test benches, Aprilia has put the kit in to production. So after months of drooling, we can finally get our hands on them.

Each part is made of three layers (carbon/kevlar/carbon) for strength and finished by hand. Quality work, just like the Italians.

The carbon parts can be ordered as a complete set or individually from official Aprilia dealers as of January 2011. So, don’t blow all your money during Christmas!

Stay tuned for more updates.

2010 Red Bull Catalina Motocross Grand Prix

Posted: 05 Dec 2010 09:00 PM PST

Hi guys, Paul here. On an island 462 miles from the IPM shop, the 2010 Red Bull Catalina Motocross Grand Prix tore through the hills around Avalon, CA this past weekend. The three day event featured BBQ, a golf tournament, live bands, drinks, Nitro Circus Greatest Hits movie at the historic Avalon theater, a tree lighting ceremony, and of course 12 motocross races. The last Catalina Grand Prix was in 1957 and the return was highly anticipated, though billed as a one time event.

The course was six miles long, including nearly one and one half miles of pavement, on closed, private
roads, trails, and crossing the golf course. Featured obstacles included many table tops, double
doubles, a triple, and even pond splash to challenge the racers. The race divisions included older
motorcycles in vintage (pre-1974), classic (1975-1979), and evolution (1980-1985) with several
modification restrictions in place.

There were also the usual age and skill based divisions including women, youths and the Grand Prix Pro Race featuring a $5000 prize in several age divisions. Kendall Norman won the 18 Pro race on a JCR Honda 450X after many other racers encountered engine seizes, mistakes, and were plainly out raced. Ryan Dudek was the winner in the Pro 30 and Kurt Nicoll placed first in the Pro 40.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Erik Buell Racing Typhon 1190

Posted: 04 Dec 2010 09:00 PM PST

What's good y'all? The Pegasus Race Team together with Gruner Engineering, have come up with a prototype naked bike based on the 185kp Erik Buell Racing 1190 RR-B Superbike. The bike was first seen at the Essen Motor Show in Germany last week.

The bike got a more smaller windscreen reminiscent of the old Buell S1 bikes. The coolers, wheels, frame, swingarm, tankcover, seat, exhaust and engine are taken from the stock Erik Buell Racing 1190RR. So the bike will boast 185 at the rear wheel.

Additional goodies are used, like a BKG triple clamp, adjustable clip ons, the new Motogadget digital cockpit Motoscope pro, AST Suspension, Brembo master cylinders with LSL reservoirs and Bridgestone tires.

The project was the teams first bike that was designed 100% by a computer. All parts are constructed in Catia 5 by Gruner Engineering.

Erik Buells claims: “EBR is working intensely right now on getting the new 1190RS Superbike model ready for production, which is consuming all our resources. We had been talking with our friends at Pegasus about our plans for a streetfighter model that would follow the 1190RS, and mentioning we could not work on it at this time. Pegasus asked if they could build a concept model to show, so we sent many CAD models over for them and our friends at Gruner to use to speed up the design process. They did a great job in a very short time!”

There is nothing decided about the future of the concept, if there will be a production bike that follow these ideas. For sure will be there some spin-offs from the Typhon study be used for some parts to rebuild the Buell XB1125R and CR models sold from buell-parts.com.

The cockpit concept with covers, triples, windscreen, digital gauge and double H4 lights will be available for XB and 1125 Buells. The lamp itself will fit backwards all XB Lightning models.

Stay tuned! Check out Buell Boards for more info!

Peace!

Studdly
