Suzuki Motor Corporation Japan is using 800 CC to 1200 CC engine for its small cars for almost 16 years now. In the wake of competition and awareness for more and more efficient engines with higher fuel economy, Suzuki has started development of a new small engine. The New small engine will be a 600 CC internal combustion engine which will be used with a idle-stop system to deliver as high fuel efficiency as 27 KM per litre of petrol. This high efficiency will along with modern technology will reduce the emissions as well as the running cost of the car. Suzuki will invest close to $245 million to make this engine at its Sagara factory.
These engines will be more efficient that the presently used K-Series engines of Suzuki which power most of the small cars of Maruti Suzuki. These engines earlier earlier debut in Japan in small cars like Wagon R and Alto, later on these engines may replace the small K Series engines in India cars by Maruti like Maruti Wagon R and Maruti Alto.

The Taiwanese version of Nano is expected to be upgraded and hve extra features than the Tata Nano sold in Indian market. It will be fitted air conditioning and with safety features like Airbags etc.. Its not yet clear as yet whether TECO will import Nano as a CBU or CKD. The present version of Hindustan Motors Ambassador is 4.3 meters long with a spacious interior and boots pace. This length of over 4 meters makes it to fall in large cars category which attracts a higher excise duty compared to the cars which are shorter than 4 meters in length. Hindustan Motors is already working on a new variant of Ambassador with New Engine. Not only the engine will be new, but the spy pictures of the car undergoing testing also suggests that the car will be less than 4 meters in length to avail the excise duty benefits to keep the overall cost of the car low to make it a more attractive deal.
As of now, the expected date for the launch of the new variant it end of 2011. We hope to see the new and attractive variant coming out soon with a better performing engine.
