Subaru Stella EV Electric

Posted: 06 Jan 2011 05:27 PM PST

Subaru has launched the Star EV electric on the Japanese market in 2009. The car ahead of many competitors, is equipped with an electric engine by 63 hp and 170 Nm of torque and a fast charging system that allows it to reach 80% of battery life in just 15 minutes. The maximum speed is 100 km / h, while the maximum range is 100 km. By 2011 will be delivered about 400 units planned, but Subaru is already evaluating the possibility to conclude the adventure of the model, when in 2012 the full range Stella will end their business careers.

Subaru could exit the utility segment, thanks to synergies with Toyota and to a series of new models and may decide not to propose an electric vehicle. A decision goes against the current trend, which could open a wider reflection on the real sense “business”of this type of cars: Subaru could in fact divert their investments to traditional vehicles, even hybrids, with reduced emissions and fuel consumption far more than current models, temporarily abandoning the field of zero emissions. The advances reported by Autoevolution, however, leave open any doubt, in the absence of official statements of the Japanese.
