VW Tops List of Most-Viewed Super Bowl Ads on YouTube Posted: 08 Feb 2011 11:33 AM PST Volkswagen’s “The Force” ad was a force to be reckoned with on YouTube. The ad, which was uploaded a few days before the Super Bowl, is now up to 16.4 million views, topping the list of the most-viewed Super Bowl ads on YouTube by far. YouTube’s metrics are not necessarily the final word, though. For one thing, some ads, like the Doritos and the HomeAway spots included on the list, had been on YouTube for a few weeks before the game. Secondly, discussion about the spots via social media may be a better overall indicator of an ad’s impact. VW’s other Super Bowl ad, “Black Beetle,” came in second place with 1.9 million views. The rest of the list includes: Chrysler – “Imported from Detroit” – 1.2 million views Do you agree that VW dominated the rankings? - Mashable Related posts: |
AmD Milltek Racing / YouRacingCar announce their 2011 BTCC VW Golf Posted: 08 Feb 2011 06:30 AM PST Back in January AmD Milltek Racing took the wraps off their 2011 VW Golf for the BTCC season. Shaun Hollamby and Phil Millington were on hand to show off the new 2-litre turbo-charged engine. Last year they ran a normally aspirated 2-litre. The first day of the Autosport International show at Birmingham’s NEC arena, saw the wraps come off the 2011-version of the AmDMilltekRacing.com Volkswagen Golf BTCC race car. During the winter break, the car has undergone a major transformation with the aim of making it significantly more competitive in the forthcoming season – which kicks off at Brands Hatch on the 2nd and 3rd April. The biggest problem the team faced during their maiden season was a relative lack of power from their 2-litre normally aspirated powerplant. This season, however, the car is now packing a 2-litre turbo-charged engine which should dramatically boost the power output and level the playing field. Milltek’s technicians have also worked extensively with the team to develop a new ultra-high performance exhaust system to compliment the engine upgrade. The launch was met by a large and enthusiastic crowd of journalists and fans who were eager to find out more about the car, the team and, the experiences and aspirations of its driver Shaun Hollamby. Team sponsors YourRacingCar.com also launched their 2011 membership scheme which allows members to have their pictures on the roof of the BTCC VW Golf also had a bumper weekend with lots of interest and new members signing up on the stand. The launch was held on the Milltek Sport stand (8555 in hall where Hollamby was joined by key sponsor and Milltek Sport’s owner Phil Millington. Despite a difficult opening season, the team proved to be a massive hit with fans of BTCC and went on to win the “BTCC Fans Trophy 2010″. To see the new car, it will be on the Milltek Sport stand for the duration of the show – we’d love to see you there but if you can’t make it, you can still follow all the developments and pre-season testing on the team’s BTCC blog.
