Suzuki has developed a Swift S Concept which is based on the Maruti Swift 2011 new model which was launched in Europe in mid 2011 and is likely to be released in India in coming months. The Swift S Concept seems to the blue print of the upcoming Swift Sports Variant to be launched in Australian markets. It will be compact Sports hatchback with high performance and premium features. Suzuki has as of now only released the below graphic and the prototype will be displayed at the Geneva Motor Show 2011.

Honda SIEL Cars India top management have revealed their commitment to launch the all new Honda CRV in India by the end of the year 2011. The new car will not be just cosmetic facelift, it will be an all new CRV. Call it BMW X1's impact or the competition from other SUVs like Skoda Yeti and Toyota Fortuner, Honda has pulled up its socks to stay in the game. Speculations are high that there will also be a diesel engine variant of CRV powered by Honda 2.2 Litre engine.
Honda CRV is a globally popular SUV by Honda and it will be a crucial launch for Honda as the sales of the existing model of CRV are not very exciting, at least in India. This might be a chance for Honda to get back its share of the pie in the gradually expanding Indian SUV market. Ford Ikon, the popular sedan which served many ford admirers in India for more than a decade is finally going to retire. Ford India has stopped the production Ford Ikon. Ford is rather focusing on the new lineup of products like the Ford Fiesta Classic which is likely to be introduces before the end of year 2011 in India. Ford India has phased out Ford Ikon.
The car has been too old and the sales had dropped drastically in the past some time because of tough competition from mid segment sedans including its own younger sibling the Ford Fiesta. Sedans like Maruti Swift Dzire, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Accent , upcoming Toyota Etios sedan were all posing threat to the existence of Ikon. With the sales as low as zero units in January 2011, it's a strategically correct decision for Ford to move on to the new tomorrow with its new offerings. We all know how successful Ford Figo has been and is becoming more popular day by day. Other than this small car Ford Fiesta has also been able to grab an appreciable amount of sales but not as much as Figo's. So with the above two cars the sedan and small car market has been influenced a lot but what about the SUV segment. We are emphasizing on the SUV segment just for the reason that Ford Endeavour has been lacking the pace which it initially did and more prominently because of new entries like Toyota Fortuner etc..
The car above is not familiar to you but will soon become as it is the new mini SUV Ford Ecosport expected to come to India in 2012. Surprisingly this car is based on Ford Figo's platform and is running successfully in Brazil and Mexico and will be reworked before it is brought to the Indian market.
