Audi 2010 Annual Report

Last year was a very special one for the Audi Group: A product offensive and 1.09 million cars sold made 2010 a record-breaking year. And Audi intends to continue redefining the benchmark with its "Vorsprung durch Technik." The Audi 2010 Annual Report(Flash) reflects this idea through the motto "New departures. The next chapter in mobility." The Company published its Annual Report today to coincide with the Annual Press Conference. While the impressive figures in the financial section illustrate the Audi Group's economic success, exciting stories in the magazine section illustrate what Audi is planning for the next few years: a pledge to mark new departures in the automotive world.

  • Audi retains successful magazine concept – this time with the theme of "New departures"
  • Online version brings the stories to life in virtual form
  • Apps for iPhone and iPad

The Audi 2010 Annual Report explores the headline theme of "New departures. The next chapter in mobility" from a variety of angles. Famous authors have contributed a wide variety of stories that illustrate what it takes to move boldly forward: innovative products and technologies, sustainability and a healthy dose of pioneering spirit. The examples of trailblazers from the worlds of sport, politics, culture and technology highlight what the spirit of discovery and invention is all about, and how visions become reality.

Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, and Wu Cuiyun, Mayor of the Chinese solar city Dezhou, talk about the significance of holistic energy concepts, "green" electric mobility and the challenges of urbanization. In another conversation CFO Axel Strotbek and cross-country skiing legend Bjørn Dæhlie discuss discipline, success and the common ground between competitive sport and being the market leader.

Another highlight of the Annual Report is the article about the adventurer Johan Ernst Nilson, who has the ambition to travel from the North to the South Pole purely under his own power, with some assistance from the elements – on foot, on skis, by bike, pulled along by a kite, or on a sailing ship. Audi is providing cutting-edge technology, materials and logistics to aid him in this venture. For instance, Audi engineers and designers teamed up with a sled manufacturer to build a special carbon fiber sled for the expedition. There are regular updates on Nilson's adventure in the Audi Online Annual Report at

The latest Audi Annual Report appears in a total print run of around 100,000 copies, in the languages German, English and Chinese. As well as the print version, an interactive online version at provides further exciting insights into the stories. One particular highlight is navigation by webcam. A mere movement of the hand is all it takes to browse through the virtual world of Audi – without any use of the mouse, keyboard or touchscreen. A separate mobile site is available for smartphones. Following on from the hugely successful iPhone app for the 2009 Annual Report, this year Audi has launched an app for the iPad. Thanks to audio and video clips as well as slideshows, users can experience at close quarters how, for example, Johan Ernst Nilson prepares for his expedition in the Audi cold chamber, or how rally legend Stig Blomqvist test-drives the e-tron Silvretta.

Audi first explored the novel concept of an annual report comprising magazine and financial section in 2005 and has since won many international awards with it. For example, the digital version of the Audi 2009 Annual Report won the prestigious red dot design award 2010 in the category "Online Communication."
