Hey guys, Jon here again. Ducati has released two videos explaining the design and technology of the new Ducati Diavel sports cruiser as it gears up for the bike to be released in the New Year. Check it out.
The videos explain the thoughts behind the design of the bike being based on the appearance of a ‘sprinter hunched on the starting blocks‘ and the technology which is standard on the bike.
Ducati is aiming the Diavel to open up new markets for the firm as it broadens the range outside the normal sportsbikes and the traditional Monster range.
The firm started building the first batch of the new Ducati Diavel two weeks ago. Ducati General Manager Claudio Domenicali officially opened the production lines at the Bologna factory as the firm gears up to build enough models for the first run. Ducati UK has already taken more than 50 confirmed orders.
Spokesman Alan Jones said: "There are over 50 confirmed orders but following the bike show in Birmingham this is rising rapidly. It's slightly less than the Multistrada had achieved at this time but I think more people were clear on what that bike offered. The Diavel is one of those bikes that has to be experienced and tested."
The Diavel is a 162bhp sports cruiser with a 207kg kerbweight for the more expensive Diavel Carbon model, ABS, traction control, different riding modes, a 240 section rear tire and two versions; a standard one and the range-topping Carbon model.
The Diavel is a new take on the market sector defined by the Yamaha V-Max and the Harley-Davidson V-Rod although Ducati has been at pains to say the performance of the Diavel will destroy both of them in terms of braking and handling and it's much lighter.
