2011 MV Agusta 920 Base Model

Hi guys, check out MV Agusta's new base-model Brutale: a 921cc version that will become the least expensive way to own a new MV Agusta.

The Brutale will cost 11,999 Euros in mainland Europe, so you can plug that into a currency converter to get your USD price. MV labels the new machine simply 'Brutale', where the larger-capacity models have a capacity suffix to identify them.

The engine is unique to the entry model. It's a 921cc configuration of MV's long-standing inline-four engine, which keeps the crank from the 1090RR but with new smaller pistons and corresponding cylinder block.

MV Agusta claims it's the firm's most manageable engine yet, but it still makes 129bhp. Two switchable power maps and MV's eight-stage traction control system are standard.

The 920 has a one-piece seat instead of a two-part rider/passenger pad on the larger models that is both narrower and lower.

The matte-black finish is also unique to the 920, befitting its lower cost, and a white option will be available too.

The indicators at the front are separate on the new bike unlike the higher-spec MV Brutales that have them integrated in to the mirrors. The 920 has amber instead of clear lenses.

The Marzocchi forks retain full adjustment, though the rear shock is simpler with only preload and rebound damping adjustment.

The internals are revised for softer damping rates, which should improve ride comfort as well as making it more confidence-inspiring for less experienced riders.

Wheels and brakes are the same, but road-orientated Pirelli Angel ST tires are fitted in place of sportier rubber, helping give it a more all-round appeal to road riders.
