Hyundai Santro Exports Cross 5 Lakh Milestone Posted: 16 Feb 2011 04:52 AM PST Hyundai has been an amazing competitor in the small car segment and it all started with the introduction of the iconic Hyundai Santro which simply raised the bars for other manufacturer who were existing or planning to jump into the hatchback segment. There was a time when the metropolitans had only Santros running all across them and it was a time that no one could ever forget. The job of redefining the meaning of an affordable small car was done by Hyundai Santro which was later reframed when Hyundai i10 became the flagship model recently. In fact the car's charm is still prevailing in many of the cities but the changing tastes of Indian buyer forced the company to bring in other models like the i10 and Hyundai i20. But as we all know the story doesn't end here since most of the top selling car models are exported to other markets by their respective companies and Hyundai was doing exactly the same.
After exporting the complete made in India Santro to 80 countries for over 10 years, the company has finally surpassed 5 Lakh unit milestone which is something to be extremely proud of. On this very proud moment this is what Hyundai India's MD and CEO H W Park said, "The export of the Santro has reached five lakh units. From the time of its launch, this popular car has been widely appreciated for its design, technology and safety. In a little over a decade since Hyundai has been present in India it has become the leading exporter of passenger cars with a market share of 57 per cent of the total exports of passenger cars from India," We wish the company a very successful year ahead and expect to hear more such prideful news. Suzuki Recalls Suzuki SX4 and Grand Vitara For Engine Timing Pulley Replacement Posted: 16 Feb 2011 04:49 AM PST Suzuki has run into a technical problem with its crossover Suzuki SX4 and SUV Grand Vitara sold in the USA markets. Suzuki has discovered a problem with the timing chain pulley in the engine of these cars. This pulley is reported to have malfunctioned in Grand Vitara SUVs sold between 2009 to 2011 and SX4 sold between 2010 and 2011. The malfunction of this pulley causes the power steering to fail, making it really hard to turn and in some cases, the engine stalls. Under this recall of about 32000 cars in USA, the Suzuki dealers will replace the timing chain pulley with a new pulley free of cost. The new pulley installed does not have these problems. Indian versions of these cars by Maruti Suzuki, Maruti SX4 and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara are not affected by the above mentioned problems. Hero and Honda in their splitting agreement have agreed to not use the Hero Honda on the existing products if the make changes to these products. The aim of this initiative is to ensure more participation of Tata Motors in motor sports activities. Fiat To Open Its Own “Image Brand Centers” For Selling Fiat Cars In India Posted: 15 Feb 2011 10:46 PM PST Fiat has been selling its cars in India through Tata Motors India's sales and marketing network. Tata Motors has this agreement with Fiat to market its cars using the infrastructure of Tata Showrooms. But lately, Fiat realized that selling its cars through Tata Dealerships is not working very well, so Fiat has decides to open its exclusive showrooms which will be called as Image Brand Centers for Fiat. However, Fiat will continue to market its cars with Tata Dealerships, but it will have these exclusive centers as well. These centers will help to improve the brand image of Fiat in India and will display Fiat cars and will provide a improved level of customer experience with Fiat cars. Fiat will open these showrooms initially in the metro cities like Delhi and Pune. The car inspite of its good design and quality failed to taste success prominently because of its low mileage and expensive pricing. Though it is immensely attractive at its presence as well as performance yet it lacked the practicality of a good car. For as long as 2 years after BMW officially introduced this car, it was being sold mainly as a 4-seater but as we mentioned above the practicality was not there and the company probably gave it a thought and understood the need of one more accommodation.
Yes you have calculated it right, the number of seats ha been increased by unity and now the car will be sold as a 5-seater SUV but only in USA and is expected to be seen in the Indian market soon. All the models in the US will feature an additional seat except top of the line Active Hybrid variant. We guess that increasing the seat count wouldn’t affect the buyer's mind much since if one is going to spend nearly a crore on a vehicle he/she would hardly consider any such issue big enough and now that BMW has done it, it is definitely appreciated BMW X6 SUV Specifications In India
