The car we are going to talk about has been a head turner for quite some time and has attracted an enormous number of customers which no other sedan has been able to do in that very price band. Honda Civic which we all are very much familiar with is the one we are going to talk on and things are really getting serious from Honda's side as very soon we will be seeing 2012 Honda Civic running on the roads.

The official pictures along with the details have been revealed by Honda and very surprisingly this new model is not as impressive and magnetizing as the existing model has been. This could be affecting Honda's sales in the sedan segment to an unexpected level and we really hope that new buyers do consider other aspects of the Civic before buying it.

As you can see the new design isn't sensational enough and like everybody else we were expecting something more distinguishing and I clearly tells that the designers have not worked enough on it.

Honda Civic Si model is a performance variant of the same which comes equipped with a 2.4 Litre monster pumping out 200BHP of max power and 230Nm of max torque.
Other variants include Honda Civic Hybrid HF and then a natural gas powered GX version.

Maruti Swift 2011 May Launch In May 2011?

Suzuki is already selling the new model of Swift 2011 in Europe since September 2010 while India is yet to get the new Maruti Swift 2011 which is due for long time now. For past some months, there have been a lot of speculation about the timeline of the launch of Maruti Swift 2011 in India. Earlier reports suggested a launch around and of 2011, then some rumors started spreading about 2nd quarter of 2011. Two weeks back, I called up a Maruti dealer and asked about the launch of the new Swift, to which he told me that the new Swift maybe announced around the mid of 2011 but deliveries will start around the end of 2011 only. As per the recent information by some Indian automobile publications, Maruti may launch the new Swift in India as early as May 2011.

I would personally consider it a tentative date and can not be totally believed until something official comes up. Although I wish the car to be launched in India as soon as possible as a lot of Swift fans have already been holding up their new car buying decision in the wait of the New Swift 2011. The new Swift will be priced about Rs.30,000 upwards of the existing Swift in India and will have larger dimensions and better interiors and suspension. Rural utility vehicle or vehicles meant for rural markets are the most essential sort of vehicles needed by almost every developing and developed nation. Vehicles like tractors, farm equipments are the basic means of cultivating, harvesting and transporting goods from the fields to the actual market and hence are very important.

Currently utility vehicles carry an excise duty of as high as 22% which is equal to what certain luxury cars like BMW X1 and Chevrolet Captiva carry and therefore are less attractive for rural people who intend to buy these useful vehicles.

Moreover it has been a topic of debate for the government and recently this is what an official belonging to the heavy industry said, “There is a consensus to subsidize some specific vehicles that have a mass market in rural areas. We have been looking at options to de-classify these from other vehicles that are in highest tax net so that rural users can enjoy competitive prices like tractors and other farm equipment ,”

Going back in 2006-2007 the Government had drastically reduced the duty on small cars to 16% and 24% for vehicles under 4 meters and with 1200CC & 1500CC engines respectively, only to boost the sales and it actually helped it achieving the same.

This step taken by the Government in 2006 & 07 propelled the sales of such small cars to an unexpected level eventually expanding the domestic market to over 2 million units per annum. Finally the Heavy Industry has put am argument on the tax being demanded on vehicles and we expect to see a favorable decision on this soon.
