James and the Fiat 500

 

It was a  unexpected surprise for us all at Top Gear when Fiat’s new 500 Twin Air arrived in the automobile park. For all its much-heralded fuel economy & low CO2 emissions, it was hard to imagine that any two-cylinder engine would feel anything other than weedy & asthmatic.

Well, they were wrong. The Fiat 500 Twin Air was such a winner it was finally heralded as Engine Of The Year in our recent Top Gear awards. It’s great fun, quicker than you think, & makes an incredible, “40-a-day smoking habit” noise.

So when Andy turned up in one at last week’s filming, James  had to have a go. See what he thought below (and welcome two of our cameramen to the Top Gear behind-the-scenes gang for the first time):
